Taking fall portraits.

This is one of my favorite times of the year to shoot outdoors. The the sun is naturally lower in the sky creating a nicer glow of light and less hard shadows.

Of course, it's always a good idea to get out there first thing it the morning during the "Golden Hour". The golden hour is the period of daytime shortly after sunrise or before sunset, during which daylight is redder and softer than when the sun is higher in the sky. So, it's worth setting your alarm.

Enjoy.

Taking fall portraits.

Look for walking trails and tall trees. Distant paths give photos more interest and depth. Place your subjects at the bottom of the frame to show the height of the trees.

Eye-level with the little ones. They move really fast, for sure. So get right down on the ground with them to capture all the fun their having with those leaves.

Fresh air. We all know how kids love running and playing outside in the cool fall air. These candid moments can make special photos.

Interact with the environment. Stand among the forest. Let the trees become an important part of your photo. I love the white birch in the background.
